Book comes back to the library after 130-years

This is an interesting case of a book that came back to the library after 130-years. A woman returned it with an apology letter in which she stated - "your former pupil appears to have stolen" it. The 77-year-old woman from Taunton, Somerset in England, had come across a copy of 'The Microscope and its Revelations' written by Dr William B Carpenter as she was going through her late husband's possessions.
It was a 1,000-page book and the date stamp showed it had been borrowed from the library of Hereford Cathedral School in 1886.

The book had been loaned to her grandfather who attended the school between 1886 and 1894. He was a distinguished naturalist and pathologist.
Incidentally, the school does not charge for overdue books. If they had, the woman could have been landed with a hefty bill of 7,446 pounds – based on a 17p-a-day charge at most libraries.
The school is delighted to be reunited with the book and are pleased that it is still in such good condition.
