Nine-year-old boy of Philippines studies in the light from a McDonald’s restaurant

The photo of a 9-year-old homeless boy of Mandaue City in the Philippines studying in the light reflected from a McDonald’s restaurant is one of dedication. The kid is seen doing his homework as he is crouched low behind an improvised wooden desk. He nurses dreams of one day becoming either a doctor or a police.
The photo was captured by a medical student and she has posted in her social media page.
This has been reported in dailymail.co.uk dated 9 July 2015.
During her talks with the boy, she came to know that he is studying in Grade 3 elementary school and has only one pencil – he had two but one of the students stole one from him. He lives with his mother and younger brother in a small, wall less food stall after his father died in prison and his old home burnt down.
A fundraising page has been set up for the boy and the funds are intended to reward his dedication to studies by encouraging people to help fund his education. The page has already generated around £329 and is nearly halfway towards its target of raising over £700 for helping the boy advance in his school career.
